Experience

2020 - Present

Technical Group Manager

After my years contributing to a cool team, I was promoted to Manager. I oversee a small team at a tech company and it has been a fun time demonstrating and developing my leadership skills.
Your girl’s a boss!

2015 - 2019

Pro A/V

This one is always a bit hard to explain. So, let’s try this, think smart home. Now upgrade that to commercial and high-end residential with industry leading new technology like A/V over IP, RS232, TCP/IP and IR control. That’s the field I work in currently! Programming and hardware support sums it nicely.

2014

3D Printer Build

Heard of these cool things? Yea, well I built one from scratch. Definitely had a problem with the melting board at first, but once that was fixed we built a few cool things! Functional rolling tractor cars and many interlocking interfaces, sounds easier than it is. Great hands on experience designing projects and completing the actual build.

2010 - 2013

Freelance

After working for Elizabeth Arden, I did freelance make-up while in college studying Computer Science. I mention this because I strongly feel these skills of precise application has built a foundation for my artistry with cakes and treats today.

About Me

Oh hey!  Well, I’m Chantel and I have an addiction to baking. Phew… now that that’s out of the way, I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a self-taught sugar artist and baker. I must say my mother and grandmother have been the bakers in my family for as long as I can remember.  My mom made those elaborate stair case multi-level huge wedding cakes that were oh so popular among the Caribbean community. However, they specialized in traditional Jamaican rum cake. I never thought I would bake because I remember the long hours they spent baking, decorating and assembling.  (insert Spongebob 10 years later meme lol). Here I am, doing just that! It was all sparked by an invitation to participate in a baking contest at our bi-annual family reunion hosted by my aunt Veronica. I was the only one who actually showed up with a submission and everyone loved it! I never stopped and with the help of my super supportive family and friends I didn’t have to. I’ve grown to hone my own aesthetic for design which is clean lines, modern and fun!
Oh yea and I love decorating with fresh florals!

P.S. I currently still work full-time in the Pro AV industry programming custom GUI’s and providing hardware support. I’m currently working on completing my PCAP, CSS and Oracle certifications.
